D-3-2
Town Pound
The third pound established in Nelson. It was a replacement for the earlier one at D-4-20 built by vote of the town in 1795: “build a pound of stone 35’ square the committee to recommend the height of the walls. Voted to set the pound in Capt. Ezra Smith’s pasture on the northerly side of the road.”
It seems to have been moved to accommodate Ezra Smith, pound keeper from 1786 to 1823 who lived just up the road at D-3-1
