D-3-9

Born in Southborough, Massachusetts in 1744, Shadrach Hill settled in Packersfield in 1776 buying 200 acres of land from John Estabrook. He moved from Framingham, Massachusetts where he served in the army fighting at Bunker Hill. He built the house here and moved his wife Ruth (Graves) and three young children. They sold this place with 16 acres of land to Jacob and Prudence Smith of Southborough, Massachusetts in 1778 and built a new house (D-3-12) on the place.  Jacob died here in 1795 at age 75. Prudence sold it to Aaron Beard, a joiner by trade, in 1798. He sold the property to his neighbor to the north, David Beard in 1802 and moved to a place near the old common. The house was probably abandoned then
