Born in 1797 and the oldest child of Bethuel and Deborah Harris, Cyrus built this beautiful brick home on the hill behind his father’s house in 1828. He had gone into the woolen mill with his father, building just downstream from that man’s house (E-1-2.)  He branched out on his own forming a stock company in 1846 and raising $200,000 to build the four-story stone mill further down the brook.

He died of consumption in 1848 with the stone mill finished, but not yet in operation – a failure that resulted in the mill being sold to Faulkner and Colony io Keene in 1850.
