Comfort Day was a son of Benjamin Day (E-5-7), an early settler of Packersfield. Came from Born in Mansfield, Massachusetts in 1755, he married Velonia Paine in 1775 and moved to Chesterfield, New Hampshire.  The couple had their first four children there. In 1782 he bought 90 acres of land from Samuel and Daniel Skinner on the south side of Osgood Hill and built a very small house there in about 1785. Their son, Asa was born here in 1787. A few years later the family returned to Chesterfield.
