Amos Child

Amos Child was a signer of the Packersfield Association Test (1776), an oath of loyalty during the Revolutionary War. He was born in Waltham, Massachusetts in 1753.  He built a house here in 1776. He and his wife, Sarah had five children. His wife died and he remarried Lois Skinner in 1788. He held many town offices. In 1828 Amos sold the home to his grandson, Amos, who lost it in foreclosure and moved to Hillsborough in 1840. He probably took his grandfather with him. The place was abandoned then.
